IP Couples Wed at NCIP Mass Wedding – Manila Bulletin
Eleven couples from the Manide tribe were married in a mass civil wedding in Labo, Camarines Norte on 8 September.
The ceremony, dubbed ‘Kasalang Manide’, was held at the Labo Sports Complex and is a project of the Labo Local Government Unit through the Municipal Civil Registry Office and in partnership with the Labo Department of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP). Center.
NCIP Labo service center said in its Facebook post that the ceremony was the culmination of the recently concluded Busig-on 2022 festival.
The newly married IP couples were from Barangay Malaya, Labo which is an ancestral domain of the Manide tribe, while others were from Barangays Macogon and Daguit.
The Manide Tribe, or the Agta Tribe as the Bicolanos call it, is a Filipino Negrito community from the Bicol region.
The couples received wedding gifts from provincial government officials and the local chief executive of the Municipality of Labo.
Meanwhile, NCIP Labo Service Center also announced the recently completed three-day digital literacy training program for 24 Manide youths from the same province.
The program was offered by the NCIP Labo Service Center and the Camarines Norte office of the Information and Communications Technology Department.
With the aim of making young people in Manide digitally informed and responsible citizens, topics such as basic computer commands, internet use, social media sites, safe internet use, etc have been addressed.
The young IPs had the chance to use laptops during the lessons so that they could put their learning into practice.
