UP: 63 weddings take place in mass wedding: The Tribune India

A government-sponsored mass wedding took place in a village in Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh, which saw 63 marriages, including that of a middle-aged widow and her daughter, officials said. .
The wedding program took place on Thursday as part of the state government’s “Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana” in the village of Piprauli in Gorakhpur, officials said here.
Beli Devi (53) was married to a certain Harihar, who died 25 years ago. The couple had three daughters and two sons. At the event, she married Harihar’s brother Jagdish (55), who was so far single.
The youngest Indu of Devi (27) also got married to a Rahul (29) in the wedding ceremony.
In the function, 63 couples were married in particular in the presence of senior officials, including the Block Development Officer (BDO) among others.
“My two sons and my two daughters are already married. So, with the marriage of my youngest daughter, I decided to marry my ‘Devar’ (the younger brother of the husband). All of my kids are happy, ”Devi told reporters.
“My mother and uncle took care of us, and I am very happy that they are now taking care of each other as well,” said her daughter Indu. – PTI
